Le neutre de Barthes est-il queer ?
Résumé
In the French language, writes Barthes, "I'm obliged to choose between the masculine and the feminine; the neutral or the complex are forbidden to me". Assigning the subject to a gender identity, denying them suspension, "forcing them to say": language does violence to those who have only it to express themselves, it is steeped in injunctions and stereotypes, it classifies, orders and thereby oppresses.
