« Un monde de l’art où l’on catche : Grégoire Bouillier vs Sophie Calle »

Marie-Jeanne Zenetti

Résumé

In L'Invité mystère, writer Grégoire Bouillier recounts how he met Sophie Calle during one of her "birthday rituals". In 2007, the artist presented an exhibition at the Venice Biennale, Prenez soin de vous, in which she exhibited a break-up e-mail signed "G.". Ten years later, Grégoire Bouillier published Le Dossier M, settling scores with a certain "S." and with the exhibition. This dialogue invites us to circulate between works involving different media and semiotic regimes. Sophie Calle and Grégoire Bouillier's joint representation and performance of themselves as artists, as lovers and as a couple involves texts and images published in various media, as well as media appearances. At the crossroads of literature and contemporary art, the aim is to explore this transition from self-representation to a performance that exceeds the traditional limits of the work, whether written or exhibited, by blurring the boundaries between reality and fiction in an autofictional mode.
