Ce que nous apprend une étude autour des équations numériques sur l'Ecole polytechnique du XIXème siècle

Abstract : In this article, I discuss the idea than the Ecole polytechnique, during the nineteenth century, didn't enable to actors (students and teachers) to make some originals works in mathematics. In fact, some historians argue that review programms prevented students and teachers to take initiative. Nevertheless, I will try to qualify this idea, taking into account several examples linked to the teaching of numerical equations during the nineteenth century. More specically, I present in this article three theorems, credited to three teachers of the Ecole polytechnique, which have circulated among students and other teachers. Theses examples are interresting because they give informations about the Ecole polytechnique and about the teaching and learning which are practised. They also permit to know better how research in mathematics in this context could be linked to pedogical activities, and I'm going to explain how this link has a lot of consequences on the activity of such a mathematicien as Laguerre for example.
