In this article, it is examining and described the arrival of baseball in the city of Tocopilla as a sporting practice that developed from socioeconomic segregation by foreigners during the context of the industrialization of the Chuquicamata mine and in the context of chilenization post-war. It is examined how this segregated sports practice, during the 20th century became the main basis of a popular sports identity of a locality on the national stage.
